The
Tomb of Amphípolis , Macedonia (Greece) , have a perfectly circular perimeter of 427 m
made of marble with 3 m high .
Marble
well worked and smoothed of Thasos Island (near the ancient town).
The
Tomb is crowned with a Lion , that is identified with Herakles, deeply
connected to the Macedonian Kings dynasty.
This
Dynasty claimed direct descent from Temenus , Heraclid , descendent of Herakles
.
The
sons , grandsons , etc of Temenus are known by the name of " Temenus
descendents " ( see below )
The
Lion is represented several times in the Macedonian art , linked to the royal
family, especially in times of Alexander The Great.
There
figures of Herakles with a lion covering your head on the coins of kingdom, to
demonstrate the divine and heroic origin of macedonian Kings .
Ancient
coins were the most effective form of propaganda among the vast and remote
regions of the Empire .
Furthermore, in busts of Alexander The Great,
his hair has a style that resembles a lion's mane.

“You can see the
eyes of the lion in the upper part of the bust and its manes in the back side.
These manes do not
belong to Heracles but the lion.
In mythology,
Herakles has the feature of a demi-god.
The depiction of
the lion represents power.”
“Herakles puts the
fur of the lion on his head and ties it to his own body."

Another
royal Symbol was the Rosettes .

The face of this ring is engraved with the head of Alexander the Great in the guise of Herakles. The Macedonian ruler wears the skin of the Nemean lion drawn up over his head and tied in a knot around his neck. This representation of Alexander, which was also struck on coins during the ruler's lifetime, reinforced his claim of divine descent from Herakles.

HERACLIDS ( descendants of Herakles ) :
Temenus - Karanus , ancestors of Macedonian Kings , ancestors of Alexander The Great.
According to Greek myth, Karanus was son of
Temenus, king of Argos, who in turn was an Heraclid.
Temenus, along with
Cresphontes and Aristodemus were the three Doric leaders who invaded the
Mycenean Peloponnese region.
Then they proceeded to divide the conquered
territories between them. Cresphontes was given Messenia and Sparta;
Aristodemus took Laconia; and finally Temenus was given Argos. Following the
death of Temenus, the Princes argued about who should be king.
One of them,
Pheidon, defeated his brothers in battle and took over the kingship.
Karanus
then, decided to find another kingdom of his own, where he could be King.
First, however he went to the Oracle of Delphi to ask Pythias' advice.
"You should find your kingdom there, where you will find plenty of game
and domestic animals, was her advice."
Thus Karanus and his entourage
moved to the North, in search of suitable land to establish his new kingdom.
Finally, he discovered a green valley, with a lot of game and goats, whereupon
he thought that the prophecy of Pythia has been fulfilled.
Thus he built a city
there, which he named Aigai (Greek: Αἰγαί), present day
Vergina, a site of substantial archaeological activity, as numerous important
findings have been unearthed.
