OLDEST GREEK MERCHANT SHIP
Is one of the most valued of all maritime finds: it is a storehouse of information that continues to reveal secrets about shipbuilding, seafaring, trade and activities that occurred during the turbulent years that followed the death of Alexander the Great (323 BC).
The ship remains housed since 12th-century Crusader Castle in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus.
The ship was sailing along the coast of Anatolian and sank near port Kyrenia , where is the Castle of the same name .
The boat was rescued by 60% and originally had a length of 14 meters long and 4.5 meters wide.
Its speed was 4 or 5 knots and carried a great burden which mainly consisted of 400 amphoras of wine from Rhodes, almonds and millstones of Samos and Kos respectively
The oldest Greek merchant ship is yet to be reconstructed and replicated.

La nave de Quirenia de 2300 años de antiguedad es uno de los
más preciados de todos los hallazgos marítimos, es un reducto de información
que puede revelar secretos sobre la construcción naval
,el comercio marítimo y las actividades que se
produjeron durante los turbulentos años que siguieron a la
muerte de Alejandro Magno (323 BC).
La nave está en un Castillo de los Cruzados del
siglo XII , en Quirenia , norte de Chipre .
El barco navegaba a lo largo de la costa de Anatolia y naufragó en el
golfo del puerto de Quirenia cerca de Castillo del mismo nombre que hoy lo
aloja .
La embarcación pudo ser rescatada en un 60 % y originalmente tenía una longitud
de 14 metros de largo y 4,5 metros de ancho .
Su velocidad era de 4 o 5 nudos y llevaba una gran carga que consistía
fundamentalmente en 400 vasijas de vino de Rodas , almendras y piedras de
molino de Samos y Kos respectivamente .
La nave mercante griega mas antigua esta todavía para ser investigada,
reconstruida y luego replicada .
